Cellbeam provides a convenient ‘add to table’ function which allows the user to generate a summary table of the designs undertaken. If Automate is turned off, a particular beam size is defined and checked. The geometry of the final solution can be controlled by setting three criteria – cell diameter, cell pitch and beam depth. The Cellbeam Automate routine can be used to search for the minimum weight cellular beam which passes all design checks. WPBs can also be designed in Tekla Structural Designer and Fastrak building Designer. Westok Plate Beam is used to design solid web or Cellular Westok Plate Beams (WPB). A wide variety of beam design options are available, including floor beams, roof beams and cantilevers to the UK, Irish & Dutch National Annexes of the EC and BS code also. Cellbeam is used to analyse and design simply supported and fixed-ended Westok Cellbeams and Ultra Shallow Floor Beams (USFBs). Cellbeam is written by the Steel Construction Institute (SCI), who are the worldwide authority on the analysis and design of our products. Having pioneered the development of structural steelwork software for cellular beams in the 1990s, we stand today as the unrivalled market leading software supplier for the analysis and design of prismatic, tapered and curved cellular beams. Today, with improvements that have been implemented in design standards, analysis tools, and manufacturing, it is easier than ever to incorporate them into a framing system. The design procedure for castellated beams is shown in de-tail in a time tested and respected publication, The Design of Welded Structures, by Omar Blodgett.

Architecturally striking, cellular ACB® and Angelina™ beams are every year seeing increased use in the built environment. In addition, the repetition of the perforations ensures that variations, during construction or throughout the life of the structure, in the layout of the MEP system can easily be accommodated. Their web openings permit installation of mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) pipes and ducts within the depth of the beam, thereby allowing for compact ceiling systems and maximized floor-to-ceiling heights. They can be used in composite or non-composite systems. Alternatives to trusses and open-web joist systems, castellated beams are lightweight, long-spanning, structural elements that enable the design of vast column-free spaces. A new generation of cellular beams The cellular ACB® and Angelina™ beams, with their circular and sinusoidal web openings, elegantly combine function with flexibility.
